Thank you for the thoughtful response Kevin. I have not opened a case with support -- I combed these forums and tried every solution I could find. Do you think it would be worthwhile to go through support?

Absolutely. But wait until Monday morning west coast time as we are all on weekend break. In fact, I should take a few hours off as it's my day off.

At this point I have burned several days and I need to get back to work as soon as possible. It's good advice never to upgrade during a project.

As an editor, in the past, I've had to redo days, and weeks of work, so I feel your pain. You definitely want to avoid it if at all possible.

This particular project has been going on for two years now, so it makes it a bit of a challenge to avoid updates throughout.

Those kinds of projects are particularly difficult to protect from updates. I have totally been there.

And to be fair, I haven't had to worry about issues like this in the past so I thought nothing of it.

Usually, it should not be a huge issue. However, the older the project is, the more complicated it is, the amount of objects in the project, and the complexity of software updates are like a ticking time bomb. If one of the things are out of whack, you can see a project tumble into a bad state.

The biggest safeguard you can have are lots and lots of incremental backups. At least one for every day of work so you can work backward to the best state of the project.

All this is mumbo jumbo if you have a current project you need to rescue. Please take advantage of our support agents on Monday. Ask for the "video queue" and they should assist you. If not, please send me a message so I can see if I can do more for you.

Thanks,
Kevin
