Just in case miscellaneous notes if you are working with Premiere Elements 8.0 Windows 8 64 bit.

1. Be sure to be working from the 8.0.1 Update of 8   Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Windows : Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.1 update

2. Be sure to disable the automatic Background Rendering (in Editor preferences) and AutoAnalzyer Options (Elements Organizer preferences)....they are major grabbers of computer resources can bring the project down when both left enabled.
