File size is not an indicator of quality, but pixel dimensions are.

What are the pixel dimensions of the original, and to what pixel dimensions are you exporting?

Jpgs uses compression, so the exported file will always be smaller than the original, sometimes a lot smaller.

The jpg compression is lossy, so there is always some degree ofimage degradation.

If you want maximum quality, set it to 100.
